Shot shortly after the church service of Carla & Shane’s wedding last August it proves that interesting images are all about the timing.
Legendary French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson is probably the greatest ever photographer at achieving this (shortly followed by Thomas Leuthard in my opinion. A remarkable Street Photographer of modern times). Bresson was known for his mastery of pressing the shutter at the perfect moment to capture the candid shot. Also regarded as the “Father of Photojournalism” he made such an art form look simple.
I had not planned this image. But, as I stood in the background shortly after Carla & Shane signed the register, I noticed one of Carla’s bridesmaids walking over to the family. The natural reaction of happiness and joy from both the bridesmaid and the family followed, so I lifted the camera and pressed the shutter. I love the result!
This image also shows the low light capabilities of the Canon 5D III. Shot at 12800 ISO, the image quality at such sensor sensitivity was unheard of only a few years ago.
