In the women’s match Phoebe Litchfield scored a brilliant 68 from 45 balls to help Northern Superchargers beat Oval Invincibles by 14 runs in The Hundred. Litchfield put on 94 with captain Hollie Armitage as the Superchargers made 143-4.
Litchfield is now the leading run-scorer in this year’s women’s competition with 148 runs in four innings, four ahead of fellow left-hander Smriti Mandhana of Southern Brave.
Invincibles struggled in reply, and despite Cordelia Griffith’s late cameo, they ended 14 short on 129-5. The two-time winners now face a battle to reach the knockout stage.
In the mens match a stunning catch from Ross Whiteley helped Oval Invincibles edge out Northern Superchargers in The Hundred at Headingley.
Superchargers needed 31 off 16 balls when Whiteley raced in and dived full length to remove Tom Banton, who had smashed a brilliant 81. Invincibles then squeezed and restricted Superchargers to 176-8 to secure a nine-run win and move two points clear at the top of the table.
Batting first, Invincibles posted 185-5, with Jordan Cox smashing 73 not out off 48 balls.
