Using studio flash on low power, creating a flash burst of around 1/42000th of a second is fast enough to freeze motion of this lemon entering a glass of iced water. The speed of the light entering the sensor is far quicker than any shutter speed, meaning the shutter speed set on the camera has no relevance on the final exposure. It is the flash that freezes motion. This technique can be extremely effective in product photography.
